A grape result – Stanton & Killeen make the Top 52 Wineries in Australia.

Australia is home to more than 2,500 wineries, and the Northeast of Victoria is lucky to be home to one of the best in the nation. Stanton and Killeen Wines in Rutherglen, with a history dating back to 1875, is proving its thoroughly modern credentials, being named in the Top 52 wineries in the country by Huon Hooke in The Real Review, Australia’s eminent wine critic. The Real Review analyses more than 10,000 wines each year, and the Top Wineries List is a national benchmark, highlighting wineries that produce consistently high-quality wines each year.

“The recognition by our critics, peers and customers is an absolute privilege,” remarks Wendy Killeen, CEO and Brand Ambassador of Stanton and Killeen Wines. “We’ve spent years investing in our vineyard and our Rutherglen winery, and the returns of our love and labour is evident in our wines.”

Wendy Killeen and her daughter, Natasha, 7thgeneration, have dedicated their lives to the winery and the Stanton and Killeen brand, and it shows. “We have nearly 150 years of uninterrupted family custodianship of our winery and vineyards” says Wendy, “and we’ve learned, adapted, been challenged, and achieved triumph over the many decades we’ve been in business.”

What makes a Top 52 winery you ask? It’s all in the wine quality, and to show off these amazing wines, Wendy will be attending the prestigious Real Review tasting in Melbourne on August 7. Wendy recently showcased Stanton and Killeen’s award-winning wines at the Sydney tasting alongside other iconic brands including Yarra Yering, Henschke, Yalumba and Tyrrell’s.

“Having the opportunity to pour our wines for passionate and discerning wine lovers is always a pleasure” says Wendy. “The Sydney tasting was a sell-out success, and I’m sure we’ll see the same in Melbourne at Sophia in Prahran.”

For those keen to explore what the best wines in the nation taste like, tickets to the Melbourne Real Review Top Wineries Australia tasting event are available from the Real Review website. Or, for those keen on an even more personal Stanton and Killeen tasting experience, their Rutherglen Cellar Door is open seven days.

So, where to from here for a winery recognised as one of the best in the nation? “We have a continuous improvement mindset and we’re always thinking about the future,” explains Wendy. “We have some exciting products to release, incredible varieties to explore, and our famous fortified wines continue to delight our customers. We have so much to look forward to.”
