The 2022 Vintage Fortified is a wine of exceptional finesse and fruit-driven elegance, and a finalist for Fortified Wine of the Year 2026. A cool and delayed growing season allowed for slow, even ripening, resulting in a wine that highlights vibrant flavours and a refined structure, distinguishing it from the more robust styles of previous warmer and drier years.

That gentle season gave fruit of real purity and lift, and paired with high quality spirit it has produced a Vintage Fortified that looks superb even in its youth, with the balance and structure to reward cellaring well past the 30 year mark.

The flavour profile opens with a brilliant, deep ruby red and a nose that is pretty but powerful, all lifted perfume, raspberry and cassis. The palate shows great tannin structure and beautifully balanced fruit weight against the spirit, with licorice and blackcurrant adding depth, complemented by subtle violets, lavender and wood spice. The tannins are gentle but shapely, lending structure and complexity.
