2001 Vintage Fortified

Rich, Flavoursome and Elegantly Structured

At 25 years of age, the 2001 Vintage Fortified is a wine of real warmth and character, awarded Trophy and Gold at the Australian Small Winemakers Show in 2004 and Gold at the Rutherglen Wine Show in 2005. A blend of Shiraz 73%, Touriga 10%, Durif 5%, Tinto Cao 5%, Tinta Barroca 5% and Tinta Roriz 2%, matured for 18 months in large aged casks, it carries the generous spirit of the traditional S&K style while showing the elegance and finesse that Portuguese variety influence brought to the cellar.

The bouquet is rich and inviting, with chocolate and vibrant cherry aromas rising from the glass with real energy and definition.

On the palate, the wine delivers on every promise of the nose. Rich, flavoursome and full of character, with chocolate and cherry flavours carrying through from the bouquet alongside the underlying structure and finesse that mark this as a wine built to last. The finish is pleasantly dry and composed, with a lingering depth that speaks to 25 years of careful development in the bottle.

This wine was eminently drinkable at 10 to 15 years of age and now, a quarter of a century on, it continues to mature and reward those who kept their patience.

Matured in large 2500 litre aged oak casks. Alc/Vol 18.4%, Baume 3.5.
