2004 Vintage Fortified

At 22 years of age, the 2004 Vintage Fortified is one of the most decorated releases in the S&K catalogue, collecting Gold medals at the Rutherglen Wine Show, Australian Small Winemakers Show, Hobart Wine Show, Melbourne Wine Show and Victorian Wine Show across four consecutive years of competition. Crafted by Chris Killeen from six individually fermented and judiciously blended varieties, Shiraz 30%, Touriga Nacional 21%, Durif 19%, Tinta Cao 10%, Tinta Barroca 10% and Tinta Roriz 10%, this is a wine of exceptional precision and depth.

The bouquet is generous and beautifully composed, with blackberries and cherries sitting alongside wonderful, seamless spirit integration that speaks to the care and skill with which this wine was made.

On the palate, the wine opens up with real generosity. More berries carry through from the nose, joined by plum, spice and white pepper that add complexity and intrigue across the mid palate. Gentle chalky tannins round everything out with an elegance and finesse that makes this wine as approachable as it is complex.

The finish is long, layered and deeply satisfying, with the concentration and structure of a wine that has developed beautifully and still has more to give.
