2000 Vintage Fortified

At 26 years of age, the 2000 Vintage Fortified is a beautifully composed wine that sits at the heart of the S&K style, built around the Portuguese varieties that Chris Killeen championed with such passion and conviction. This blend of Touriga Nacional 38%, Tinta Cao 24%, Tinta Barroca 18%, Shiraz 14% and Durif 6%, matured for 12 months in large aged casks, is a wine that rewards those who understand the value of patience.

The bouquet is rich and inviting, with clean spirit lifting aromas of small red and black berries, liquorice, chocolate and old polished furniture. There is a savoury, slightly meaty quality to the nose that adds intrigue and depth, alongside sweet leather and nutty notes that speak to years of graceful development in the bottle.

On the palate, the wine is smooth and supple, full to medium in weight with cherries and chocolate at the core, underscored by a firm, fine-grained tannin structure that carries the wine with real concentration and complexity. The spirit is clean and well integrated, adding lift without weight.

The finish is long and harmonious, with a seamlessness that only comes with time and the very best of fruit.

Matured in large 2500 litre aged oak casks, Alc/Vol 17.7%, Baume 3.2.
