At 18 years of age the 2009 Vintage Fortified is a confident and characterful wine, a distinctive expression that steps a little outside the traditional Stanton & Killeen style. This blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Shiraz, Durif and Tinto Cão comes together in a wine that is plush, generous, and full of personality.

It was a hot year at the tail end of a long drought, a warm and demanding season that concentrated the fruit beautifully. That natural intensity, paired with high quality spirit, has delivered a Vintage Fortified with serious cellaring potential and a long life still ahead, 15 to 20 years.

The flavour profile is plush and pretty, with blackcurrant at the core lifted by bright, high acidity. The palate is rich and generous, with seamless tannins and beautifully integrated spirit giving balance and shape. A herbaceous, seed-tannin grip adds line and length without ever feeling firm.

Generous, lifted, and wonderfully composed, this is a Vintage Fortified with a long, perfumed finish and the kind of structure that ages with grace. Drink it now for its vibrancy or cellar it and watch it evolve year after year.
