At 10 years of age, the 2016 Vintage Fortified is a wine that wears its youth with real confidence and charm. Crafted by sixth-generation winemaker Chris Killeen in the style he pioneered from the 1997 release onward, this blend of Touriga Nacional 31%, Tinta Roriz 27%, Shiraz 14%, Grand Noir 11%, Tinto Cão 11% and Durif 6% is a beautifully composed expression of the S&K Portuguese variety program at its finest.

The bouquet is fragrant and inviting, with blackberry, star anise and liquorice lifting from the glass with real definition and energy.

On the palate, the wine is lush and generous, with juicy plum and morello cherry carrying across a beautifully balanced mid palate. Mouth-filling tannins provide structure and shape, while hints of milk chocolate and coffee drift through on the finish, adding warmth and a lingering complexity that keeps you coming back for more.

The finish is long and satisfying, tapering with real elegance and pointing clearly to the decades of rewarding development still ahead.

Lovely now alongside a slow-cooked casserole or a generous cheese platter, and with the structure and balance to cellar comfortably for at least another two decades.
